Njord is recruiting! Join us in the development of the competition!


Njord - The Autonomous Ship Challenge is a newly formed student organization at NTNU, which is designing and organizing an international student competition for autonomous ships. We have set a goal of carrying out the first pilot competition in August 2021, and we now seek more students who want to work with us to achieve this goal.

Njord is currently developing at an ambitious rate and we are now looking for more students to join our team at this early stage. The available positions are listed below. This is a unique opportunity to put your own mark on the competition and create something new for Trondheim, NTNU and the world. If this sounds exciting, do not hesitate to apply, you may be exactly who we're looking for!

We are mainly interested in full-time students at NTNU with comprehension of both Norwegian and English, and at least 1 year left of their studies. We want individuals who are structured, motivated and like to take action! Relevant previous experience is an advantage, however it is not a requirement. Estimated work time per week will be approximately 12 hours, and the duration of the position is from April 2020 til September 2021.

Like puzzles and planning? For the competition to run smoothly and efficiently, a comprehensive and detailed plan is essential. As logistics manager you will be responsible for the tasks involving logistics throughout the planning and the execution of the competition. This may for example include:

  • Handling the detailed organization of the competition
  • Booking and rental of supplies, transportation, accommodation and venues
  • Ensuring a well-planned and efficient infrastructure for the competition

Technical Specifications

Description

Before the participants can begin to build autonomous ships, they require a detailed description of every aspect of the competition. As part of the technical specifications team you will be responsible for defining the competition rules, while simultaneously gaining an understanding of the perception and control systems required on an autonomous ship. Tasks will include:

  • Deciding the technical specifications and competition aspects teams will use to design their ships
  • Working with various experts to ensure the competition is pushing the limits of what is possible with today’s technology
  • Corresponding with participant teams to aid their design process

Deputy Project Manager
