Explore the seven seas of innovation!

Njord NTNU is a student organization at NTNU dedicated to advancing maritime autonomy. Each year, we host Njord – The Autonomous Ship Challenge in Trondheim, an international competition where students design and operate autonomous vessels.

At the same time, we are developing our own Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV), set to compete in national and international challenges from 2026. Together, these efforts create a unique arena for innovation, collaboration, and hands-on experience in the future of maritime technology.

Join The Challenge!

The competition will be a great possibility for the teams to explore new ideas and concepts connected to software development and the autonomous shipping industry. The problems you will meet in the competition is created together with the world leading autonomy cluster situated in Trondheim.

Participants in Njord Challenge will meet problems that provides them with the possibility to get hands on experience on state-of-the-art methods used within autonomy at sea. We believe our participants will find participating to be great stepping stone for them towards becoming among the best in their fields.
